Moosejaw

Today, I had the privilege of visiting the Moosejaw base camp in Madison Heights, MI. I finally had the chance to meet and thank Tom Miedema for all his help and support. I also met the famous Lola of Moosejawmountaineering.com fame. She and the custies really took care of me during my PCT hike. In fact, I met lots of really cool people there who Love The Madness and are excited to be part of Moosejaw. I am very  proud to fly the Moosejaw flag and to buy all my gear from a great Michigan company.
Thanks Moosejaw!

Made It!

On a freezing cold Saturday morning, I finally stumbled out of the woods and onto the shore of the mighty Lake Huron, thus completing the 230 mile Shore To Shore Trail. Shortly later my friends from Camp Champaign met me in Oscoda and treated me to a fantastic lunch and a couple of delicious craft brews at Wiltze's

Stayed tuned for upcoming posts on the hike, hunting and logging, etc... I've got lots to say but for now, I just want to warm up!

The Cracked Pot

Finally.  After passing lots of less-than-friendly hunters,  I met some nice folks at The Cracked Pot in Frederic, MI.  Got a great cup of coffee from Devonne, a wifi signal and a chance to warm up..  Thanks Cracked Pot!

Luzerne

Big thanks to Dawn at Luzerne Express IGA for letting me stash a re-supply box at their store. See you in a couple weeks!

Ranch Rudolf

Finally, some Michigan trail angels! Mostly all I've gotten from people on this trail are odd looks, a few sneers and one middle finger. Just outside of Sheck's campground, I stopped in at Ranch Rudolf and was welcomed by Mellody Hamill and Winston the corgi. She set me up with hot chocolate and cookies, let me plug in my phone and warm up. Gotta reccomend this place to all the hikers and packers on the S2S Trail.

News From the Shore 2 Shore

Martha here:
I talked to Wolverine yesterday.  He is cold but doing well.

There's not much out on the trail these bleak Autumn days...hunters, 4 wheel riders, farmers...that's about it.  He's had little contact with people, but did stop into Ranch Rudolph and was welcomed with hot chocolate, cookies and a warm place to charge his batteries.

If all goes as planned, he should be done with the trail by 11-24 and finish up in Lake Huron.
